SBI cash deposit limit: Heres what customers are allowed to do now
Ahead of the festivals of Dussehra and Diwali, the State bank of India had last month sweetened mood of crores of its customers by increasing the upper cap on the amount one could deposit in a non-home branch.
Ahead of the festivals of Dussehra and Diwali, the State bank of India had last month sweetened mood of crores of its customers by increasing the upper cap on the amount one could deposit in a non-home branch. India's largest public lender had informed the decision in a tweet, saying, "Good news SBI customers! Now, the upper cap for #depositing #cash at a non-home #branch has been updated."
Home branch is the branch where a customer has opened his/her bank account. All other branches are considered non-home branches. Earlier, the maximum amount one could deposit in the non-home branch was Rs 25,000. The bank has now removed the limit on the amount that can be deposited in a non-home branch.
SBI charges Rs 50 (plus GST) per transaction on cash deposits at non-home branches, as per official website of the bank.

- No. of cash deposit transactions in a month: 3 transactions free
- Beyond 3 Transactions in a month (Excluding Alternate channel transactions): ₹50 + GST per Transaction
SBI customers can also use the cash deposit machine (CDM), which is an ATM-like machine for depositing cash directly into the account using the ATM cum debit card. This machine can be used to instantly credit the account without visiting the branch. The transaction receipt gives the updated account balance. The per transaction limit is Rs.49,900/- for cardless deposit and through Debit Cards ₹2 lakh (subject to account has PAN number).
SBI customers can also deposit cash in your PPF, RD and Loan accounts through CDM.
One can deposit up to 200 currency notes can be deposited in a single transaction. The machine accepts notes denominations of Rs.100, Rs.500 and Rs.2000. -
