SBI NFC Debit Card: In the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic through which the country is passing, social distancing must be maintained by everybody to ensure safety. The State Bank of India has once again reminded its customers to make cashless payments with the help of NFC enabled debit cards.

In the recent tweet from its official Twitter handle, SBI said, "Make safety your priority. Choose to make contactless payments with NFC enabled Debit Cards."

 

The SBI has advised its customers to choose for this NFC enabled Debit Card during physical payments. The NFC or Near-field communication is a facility available in selected SBI Debit Cards which can be enabled or disabled via Internet Banking. One can make contactless payments with the help of the Tap and Pay feature at the POS machine.

It has to be noted that as per sbicard.com, the NFC is a method of wirelessly transmitting data using radio waves. Tap to Pay uses NFC to wirelessly transmit payment data to payment terminals with NFC readers that have been activated for use. The payment information is transmitted in an encrypted format making the transaction completely secure. SBI Card Pay uses the NFC technology to make a contactless payment that is carried out by using a smartphone at NFC enabled Point of Sale (POS) machines. It must be noted that an SBI customer can transact up to Rs 10,000 in a day (max. capping of up to Rs 2,000 per transaction). 

In case, an SBI customer wishes to enable or disable NFC, one has to follow some simple steps. These are as follows: 

Step 1: One has to go to SBI e-services and then to ATM Card Devices

Step 2: From there, an SBI customer can enable and disable from the options ATM Card Limit/ Channel/ Usage Change

The use of this NFC enabled debit cards will benefit the SBI customers to make cashless transactions amidst this pandemic.
