PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline: If you are a State Bank of India (SBI)  customer, then the bank has some important information for you. The largest bank in the country has asked its customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar in order to avoid any inconvenience in future.

Recently, the SBI has tweeted from its official Twitter handle in this regard. The tweet says, "We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and continue enjoying a seamless banking service." The tweet has further stated that the linking of PAN with Aadhaar is mandatory. If PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, then PAN will be rendered inactive and cannot be quoted for conducting specified transactions. The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar is June 30, 2021, but one should link them as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience.

 

In order to link PAN with Aadhaar, one has to go to incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and then click on the 'Link Aadhaar' link on the left pane. In order to link PAN with Aadhaar one has to follow some simple steps as mentioned on uidai.gov.in. These are as follows:

Step 1: Open the Income Tax e-filing portal incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Step 2: Register on it (if not already done). Your PAN (Permanent Account Number) will be your user ID.

Step 3: Log in by entering the User ID, password and date of birth

Step 4: A pop up window will appear, prompting you to link your PAN with Aadhaar. If not, go to ‘Profile Settings’ on Menu bar and click on ‘Link Aadhaar’

Step 5: Details such as name date of birth and gender will already be mentioned as per the PAN details

Step 6: Verify the PAN details on screen with the ones mentioned on your Aadhaar. Pls. note that if there is a mismatch, you need to get the same corrected in either of the documents

Step 7: If the details match, enter your Aadhaar number and click on the “link now” button

Step 8: A pop-up message will inform you that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked to your PAN

To avoid any confusion for linking PAN with Aadhaar, one can also visit the UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in.
