With Pehla Kadam and Pehli Udaan (PKPU) savings accounts, the State Bank of India (SBI) is offering one of the easiest options to give your child a headstart in the world of personal finance.
"Introduce your children to modern-day banking, responsible spending and the power of savings with Pehla Kadam and Pehli Udaan Savings Accounts! Loaded with various features, these accounts prepare your little ones for a sound financial future," SBI says in a tweet.
The official website of the SBI says, "Pehla Kadam and Pehli Udaan, are complete bouquets of banking products, that will not only help children learn the importance of saving money but will also allow them to experiment with the 'buying power' of money."
The accounts will help children save from their monthly pocket money.
The savings accounts have banking features like internet banking, mobile banking etc, helping children get acquainted with different channels of modern-day banking.
Interestingly, the two accounts come with per day withdrawal limit which will make your child spend wisely.
Check some of the important features of the two accounts, as explained by SBI
Eligibility: Pehla Kadam can be opened for minor of any age. This account can be jointly opened with the parent/guardian.
Pehli Udan can be opened for minors above the age of 10 years and who can sign uniformly. This account is opened in the sole name of the minor and operated singly.
Monthly Average Balance requirement: Zero
Maximum Balance: Rs 10 lakh
Transaction limit: On both accounts, it is Rs 5000 in case of internet banking, shopping with Photo ATM-cum-Debit Card and of Rs 2000 with mobile banking.
Auto sweep: The auto sweep facility can be availed with a minimum threshold of Rs 20,000, sweep in multiple of Rs 1,000 with a minimum of Rs 10,000.
Over draft for parents/guardian - Only for Pehla Kadam account, against Fixed deposits for parent/guardian subject to fulfilling other terms and conditions.
Interest rate: As applicable to Savings Bank A/C.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) for Parent: This is optional for parents in case of Pehla Kadam account only.
