The country's largest bank has tweeted from its official Twitter handle informing that the bank has increased the non-home cash withdrawal limits to support its customers in the times of the pandemic. The tweet reads, "To support our customers in this pandemic, SBI has increased the non-home cash withdrawal limits through cheque and withdrawal form."
The limits have been for cash withdrawal at non-home branches for P segments customers keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the latest limits, one can withdraw cash up to Rs 25,000 for self, using the withdrawal form accompanied by the savings bank passbook.
Again, one can withdraw cash up to Rs 1,00,000 for self, using cheque. In case of cash withdrawal by third party using cheque only, the revised limit has been raised to Rs 50,000.
The SBI customers must note that these revised limits are valid up to September 30, 2021. SBI has further stated that no cash withdrawals to third parties will be allowed through withdrawal forms. Also, the KYC of the third party has to be submitted.
One must note that the 'home branch' of a customer suggests the branch where the accounts of a customer are maintained. The 'non-home branch' refers to the branches apart from the home branch where the banking facilities are available to the customer.
