SBI has informed users on its website (OnlineSBI) that they must link their mobile numbers with the bank. "Attention INB (internet banking) users, please register your mobile number with us immediately, if not already done, through Branch, failing which the Internet Banking facility may be blocked with effect from 01.12.2018."
An RBI circular had said last year that the banks must tell their customers to mandatorily link their mobile numbers and email ids for SMS alerts and email alerts. If you plan to continue using the SBI net banking facility, you must link your mobile number with the account by December 1. You also need to replace your old magnetic stripe cards with new EMV chip-based cards before December 31.

Banks have different maximum withdrawal limits and rules for fund transfer from ATMs:
State Bank of India:
In SBI customers, a number of card holders will not be able to withdraw more than Rs 20,000 in a day from ATMs from next month.
Online Card to Card Transfer rule: The official SBI website said one can send cash in a flash from one SBI Debit Card to the other. "Using this free and easy service, you can transfer up to Rs 40,000 per day instantly to your loved ones. There is no limit on the number of transactions. The limit of Rs.40,000 per day will be common across the C2C and Card to Account facility. All you need is your SBI debit card, your pin, and the beneficiary's debit card number."
HDFC Bank
Withdraw up to Rs. 1 lakh/day from ATMs with the platinum chip debit card.
ICICI Bank
Withdraw up to Rs 50,000/day from any of its ATMs. The limit for High Net Worth Individuals is Rs 100000/day. On ICICI signature debit card, the withdrawal limit is Rs 1,50,000/day.
ATM transactions: First 5 transactions at ICICI ATMs (inclusive of financial and non financial) in a month - Free
Thereafter, Rs 20 per financial transaction and Rs. 8.50 per non financial transaction
Axis Bank
Axis Bank offers over a dozen types of debit cards. Its Burgundy Debit Card allowing a daily cash withdrawal limit of Rs 3 lakh, according to the official website of the lender. Titanium Prime and Plus debit cards of the banks provide Rs 50,000 withdrawal limit for a day respectively. With the RuPay Platinum Debit Card, one can withdraw Rs 40,000 in a day. Axis Bank account holders can transfer funds instantly to any Axis Bank account across India using any Axis Bank ATM. The bank provides real time fund transfers to receivers accounts. The service is available 24 x 7, 365 days a year. The daily transaction limit is of Rs 50,000.
Steps to follow:
- Insert ATM card and enter PIN for validation.
- Select Banking transactions, followed by Funds Transfer
- Select Other Axis Bank account
- Enter beneficiary and other required details
Punjab National Bank
PNB has separate withdrawal limits for Platinum and Classic card users. Both cards come in Rupay and Master variants.
Platinum card (according to PNB official website):
- Cash withdrawal limit per day - Rs 50,000
- Cash withdrawal limit one time - Rs 15000
- ECOM/POS consolidated limit - Rs 125000
- Accidental/Disability insurance - Rs 200000
Classic card (according to PNB official website):
- Cash withdrawal limit per day- Rs 25000
- Cash withdrawal limit one time - Rs 15000
- ECOM/POS Consolidated limit - Rs 60,000
- Accidental/Disability Insurance - Rs 50,000
ATM Fund transfer rule: The PNB official website says, "Transfer of Funds through ATM facility has a limit of Rs. 1 lac per transaction for transfer of funds to accounts linked to the ATM/ Debit Card being used.
The "per-day" limit for transfer of funds to other accounts (CA/SF) within the Bank, using a PNB ATM/Debit Card at a PNB ATM, shall be the same as the "per day" cash withdrawal limit applicable for that card."
"There shall be no limit on the number of transactions that can be undertaken. This limit is applicable on ALL variants of ATM/Debit Cards," it adds.
Bank of Baroda
Bank of Baroda's Rupay Classic Card has a withdrawal limit of Rs 25,000/- per day.
Limits on other cards are:
- Baroda Master Platinum Card - Rs. 50,000/- per day
- RuPay Platinum Card -Rs. 50,000/- per day
- Visa Electron Card - Rs. 25,000/- per day
- Master Classic Card- Rs 25,000/- per day
- VISA Platinum Chip Card - Rs 1,00,000/- per day
ATM cash transfer: The bank's official website says, "Debit Cardholder can use any NFS member bank ATM (who have enrolled for the service) to transfer funds."
"Cardholder authentication would take place using debit card and pin like ATM cash withdrawal. Transaction is processed through existing NFS network."
There is a limit of Rs 5,000/- per transaction and Rs.25,000/- per month for remitter.
