Employees’ Provident Fund, which is governed by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), is offered only to salaried individuals. The EPF is a mandatory savings scheme applicable to employees of a company with more than 20 staff. This employee welfare facility helps them build funds that they can access post-retirement. The EPF member passbook contains all contributions made by an employee as well as employer in EPF account, which keeps a record of detailed contributions made every month. Since the passbook contains interests deposited in the beneficiary’s account, the EPFO has now extended facility, allowing subscribers to download the EPF passbook using their Universal Account Number (UAN). Through this facility, EPF subscribers can download and save their passbook to review entries made from time to time.
