For the quarter ending June 30, the two-, three- and five-year time deposit schemes offer interest rates of 7.0 per cent, 7.1 per cent and 7.5 per cent, respectively, while the one-year option delivers a 6.9 per cent return. Eligible depositors can start a TD account with a minimum investment of Rs 1,000.
Post Office National Savings Certificates (NSC)
The National Savings Certificate (NSC) comes with a fixed tenure of five years with a guaranteed interest rate, currently at 7.7 per cent per annum. It is a favourable and popular choice for risk-averse investors seeking steady returns.
Post Office Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP)
Investment in the Kisan Vikas Patra certificates - also known as certificates of deposit - doubles over a period of 115 months (nine years and seven months). The scheme is available for investment against a minimum deposit of Rs 1,000 with no upper limit.
Post Office Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme
The Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme is a special scheme to encourage savings for girl children in the country.
