PNB Customers ALERT! Cheque book of THESE banks will become INVALID from October 1, here is what you need to do
Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India were merged with Punjab National Bank (PNB) on April 1, 2020 and the existing cheque books of OBC and United Bank of India will get discontinued from October, 2021.
If you are a customer of Punjab National Bank (PNB), then here is something important that you need to know. PNB has alerted its customers and has informed that the existing cheque books of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India will get discontinued from next month that is October 2021.
On April 1, 2020, OBC and United Bank of India were merged with PNB. Now everything from the customer to the branch of both the banks belong to PNB. So, if you have an old cheque book from any of these banks then you will have to apply for a new cheque book, so that you do not face any problem in future transactions.

The information was provided by PNB over its Twitter account. "Old cheque book of eOBC & eUNI are going to be discontinued from 01-10-2021. Please replace your old cheque book of eOBC & eUNI with PNB cheque book with updated PNB IFSC and MICR."

What are the account holders of these banks required to do?
PNB also informed that the account holders of these banks can apply for a new cheque book through ATM, internet banking, PNB One or branch.
"Take note and apply for your new cheque book through ATM, Internet Banking, PNB One, Branch," the bank tweeted.
"All the customers are requested to use the new PNB cheque book with updated PNB IFSC and MICR only from now onwards to avoid any transactional inconvenience. Please contact our toll-free number 1800-180-2222 for any assistance or query," PNB added.
