PM CARES for Children Scheme: In an important update, the PM CARES for Children Scheme has been extended till February 28, 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme on May 29, 2021, for the children.

The PM CARES for Children Scheme aims to support children who have lost both the parents or legal guardian or adoptive parents or surviving parent to COVID-19 pandemic during the period starting from March 11, 2020. The objective of the Scheme is to ensure comprehensive care and protection of children in a sustained manner, and enable their wellbeing through health insurance, empower them through education and equip them for self-sufficient existence with financial support on reaching 23 years of age.

In order to register for the scheme and for checking the application status, one has to login to the official website for PM CARES for Children Scheme at pmcaresforchildren.in.

On the website, the individuals will find the options for registration and checking status on the home page. They have to select the option and follow the procedure as guided by the website in order to complete the process.

Upon beneficiary identification the request form for seeking support under the scheme, to be filled up on the PM CARES for children portal by the child or caregiver or any other agency producing child before CWC, as per the official website. All such children identified under the Scheme shall be registered on the portal in a week’s time.

The Ministry of Women and Child Welfare is the nodal Ministry for looking after the welfare of Children in India. The Ministry has been entrusted with the responsibility of anchoring the PM CARES for Children scheme, in collaboration with stakeholder Ministries, States and District Administration.
