PM Awas Yojana: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) was launched on June 25, 2015. This scheme is run in both rural India and urban India. In rural India, it is run as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural (PMAY-G), and in cities, it is run as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U).

Under PM Awas Yojana, the government gives subsidies on home loans. The amount of subsidy depends on the size and income of the house. Under this scheme, banks are encouraged to provide home loans at low interest rates. The maximum repayment period for a home loan under the scheme is 20 years. Statistics show that in the last 10 years, more than 4.1 crore houses have been built under PMAY.

PM Awas Yojana:​ Who is eligible for PMAY?

  • A person's age should be greater than 18 years.
  • Indian citizenship is essential, and the applicant does not own their own home.
  • The applicant's annual salary must be between 3 lakh to 6,00,000, but not more than that. 
  • The applicant Rashan's card must be included in the BPL list. 

Economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG-I and MIG-II) based on income criteria defined by the scheme, are eligible for the scheme.

PM Awas Yojana: How to apply online

  • Visit the official website -@pmaymis.gov.in/.
  • Click on the Home page, then click on the link of Pmavasyojana.
  • Click on Registration, and fill in all information.
  • Upload all documents.
  • Then click on the submit option.

PM Awas Yojana: How to apply offline

For offline applications, one will have to go to the nearest common service center. While applying, some documents will also be required like identity card, address proof, income proof, passport size photo, and property documents.
