PF Balance Check: One's Provident Fund (PF) is a mandatory investment, which is meant or retirement fund. However, one must keep on checking the PF or Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) balance from time to time. Now, it is possible through a single SMS as Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is offering ‘Short Code SMS Service’, which an EPF or PF account holder can use any time to know one's provident fund balance.

PF Balance Check Online

Any EPFO member with activated UAN (Universal Account Number) can use the SMS service by sending an SMS from their registered mobile number at 7738299899. The format of the SMS is 'EPFO UAN' that needs to be sent from the EPF or PF account holders' registered mobile number. EPFO will soon send your last PF contribution and PF balance details along with your available KYC details.

EPFO's ‘Short Code SMS Service’ for PF or EPF account holders is available in 10 languages. Those ten languages are — English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali. English language is set by default. If a PF or EPF account holder wants to receive message in other than English of these ten languages, then they will have to first three characters of the preferred languages need to be added after the UAN in the SMS.

Suppose someone wants to receive SMS reply in Hindi, then the SMs format of the PF or EPF account holder will be "EPFO UANHIN". Similarly, the SMS format will be "EPFO UANPUN" for receiving the SMS in Punjabi. However, one must note that reply would come in either of the 10 languages. So, one must check about the ten languages before sending the SMS to EPFO for sending their EPF or PF balance details.
