As an informed investor, an individual must know the balance of their EPF account. There are various withdrawal options with the help of which an individual can use the EPF amount to achieve their future financial plans.
Employees previously had to wait for their employer to provide their EPF statement at the end of each year. Employees can now simply check their personal EPF balances both offline and online at any time.
EPF balance check: How to check PF balance through SMS
You can avail of this facility only if you have an active UAN number that is seeded with your Aadhar number, PAN, and bank account.
By using your registered mobile number, send an SMS to EPFO to obtain your account details.
The format of sending an SMS to enquire about the EFP balance is-
EPFOHO UAN to 7738299899
You will receive a reply in the default language which is English. If you wish for a language-specific reply, add the language code in the SMS like EPFOHO UAN HIN to 7738299899.
SMS can be received in 10 different languages-
- English (Default)
- Gujarati (GUJ)
- Marathi (MAR)
- Malayalam (MAL)
- Telugu (TEL)
- Hindi (HIN)
- Punjabi (PUN)
- Kannada (KAN)

EPF balance check: How to check EPF balance by phonecall
EPF members do not have to pay any fees to use this PF balance check on mobile service.
You can give a missed call on 9966044425 to check the EPF balance.
Details of your last contribution will be available to you along with your EPF balance.
Before giving a missed call, make sure of the following things:
- Active UAN number
- The number you are using to give a missed call should be a registered mobile number.
- Your UAN number should be linked with your PAN, Aadhar number, and bank account.
EPF balance check: How to check PF balance on the Umang app
Umang is the centralized mobile app of the government that provides various services and you can use the app to check your EPF balance.
Install the Umang app from Play Store/ App Store.
Open the app and choose the preferred language.
Verify your mobile number and register.
Click on the option- All Services.
From the list of available options, select EPFO.
To check your EPF balance, click on View Passbook.
Enter your UAN number and click on Get OTP. Enter the OTP and click on Submit to see your EPF balance.
Only members with activated UAN and registered UAN Member Portal can use this method to check their PF balance and an individual will be able to view their passbook only after 6 hours of registering on the UAN Member Portal.
