Petrol, diesel price today, May 24: After oil marketing companies hiked fuel prices on Sunday, they kept petrol and diesel rates unchanged on Monday, May 24. As per Indian Oil Corporation Limited, the price of petrol remains at Rs 93.21 per litre and Rs 84.07 per litre for diesel in the national capital on Monday. Earlier, both petrol and diesel rates were hiked on Sunday, 12th time in May. The rates were hiked by 17 paise per litre and 27 paise per litre for petrol and diesel respectively.

Petrol price in Mumbai stood at Rs 99.49 per litre. The price of diesel in the financial capital is Rs 91.30 per litre.

It is to be noted that petrol and diesel prices vary across states depending on taxes imposed there. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, in order, levy the highest value-added tax (VAT) on petrol. Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan had the costliest petrol and diesel in the country at Rs 104.18 per litre and Rs 96.91 a litre.
