PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline extended: The last date to link your Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar number has been extended till June 30, 2021.
PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline extended: The last date to link your Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar number has been extended till June 30, 2021. Previously, the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar was March 31, 2021. The decision has been taken keeping in the view disruption caused by COVID-19, said the Income Tax Department on Wednesday.

"Central Government extends the last date for linking of Aadhaar number with PAN from 31st March, 2021 to 30th June, 2021, in view of the difficulties arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic," tweeted the Income Tax India.

The Income Tax Département also informed that the date for issue of notice under section 148 of Income-tax Act,1961, passing of consequential order for direction issued by the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) & processing of equalisation levy statements also extended to 30th April, 2021.
PAN-Aadhaar linking: Penalty
A person who does not link their PAN with Aadhaar will have to pay a penalty up to Rs 1,000. This penalty is as per the new Section 234H of the Income-tax Act. The amendment was introduced in the Finance Bill 2021.
PAN-Aadhaar linking: Consequences
If PAN and Aadhaar are not linked by the last date, which is June 30 now, the former will be termed invalid.
PAN-Aadhaar linking shortest process
If you have already linked your Aadhaar to PAN card, then you can do one more thing - check your Aadhaar Pan Card Link status by clicking on this link. For this, you have to go on website https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home
1. Click on the option 'Link Aadhaar' on the left. Click on 'Click here' to see your status.
2. Click on the hyperlink 'Click here' to see your status. Here you have to fill your Aadhaar card and PAN card details.
If your PAN card is linked to Aadhaar card then you will see this confirmation "your PAN is linked to Aadhaar Number".
However, if you have NOT yet linked your Aadhar card and PAN card, then click on this link https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home. After that, click on "Link Aadhaar".
After this, you have to fill your details. And your PAN card will be linked to the Aadhaar card.
