Amid the ongoing second wave of the coronavirus pandemic banks are making sure that customers can avail most of the facilities by sitting at their home and they do not have to step out.

"Use OnlineSBI and update your registered mobile number in your bank profile. Stay at home, do secure banking," SBI tweeted in Hindi.
A Retail Internet Banking customer (Resident customer) having active ATM cum Debit card which account is mapped with internet banking username, can change his/her mobile number online without visiting branch, SBI said.

The bank has also provided steps using which you can update your phone number. Check the process below:
Step 1: Login to OnlineSBI by clicking on the link- https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm.
Step 2: Go to 'Profile' tab.
Step 3: Click on 'Personal Details' link.
Step 4: Enter profile password after which display Name, Email ID and mobile number registered in INB will be displayed.
Step 5: Click on the hyper link 'Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre)'.
Step 6: A new screen 'Personal Details-Mobile Number Update' with three tabs 'Create Request', 'Cancel Request' and 'Status' will appear.
Step 7: Enter 'new mobile number'.
Step 8: Input Re-input 'new mobile number'.
Step 9: Click on 'Submit' button.
Step 10: A pop-up message saying 'Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx' will appear on the screen.
Step 11: Click 'Ok' to proceed.
Step 12: A new screen with following three different modes for approval of change of mobile number will be displayed;
By OTP on both the Mobile Number

If you select the first option that is by OTP on both the mobile number, then:
1. Click the radio button against the option 'By OTP on both the Mobile Number'.
2. Click on 'Proceed' button.
3. Select the account by clicking the radio button, for which you possess the debit card.
4. Click on 'Proceed' button.
5. You will be directed to State Bank of India's ATM card Validation screen.
6. Where you will be displayed with active & closed ATM cards associated with the selected account.
7. Select the active ATM card and click on 'Confirm' button.
8. In the next screen the selected ATM card number will be displayed.
9. Enter the card details (Valid To/Expiry Date, Card Holder Name, PIN and Enter the text).
10. Click on 'Proceed' button.
11. On successful validation, INB system will send OTP along with reference number on your old as well as new mobile number.
12. You need to send SMS from BOTH (old and new) mobile numbers in following format ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP value> <13 digit reference number> to 567676 within 4 hrs. e.g. ACTIVATE 12345678 UM12051500123
13. Upon successful validation of the OTP value and reference number, the new mobile number inputted by you will be copied in INB, CBS and ATM. A successful message in this regard will also be displayed to customer on his mobile number.
