The first and foremost advice extended by the lender is that the customers should not share their OTP, PIN, CVV, and UPI PIN with unknown persons. According to the State Bank of India, customers should never tell their OTP (one time password), PIN, debit or credit card CVV number to anyone. Since most of the frauds are committed this way, the bank said that customers should take precaution if someone on the phone call, after taking the name of the bank, warns you to block your card and asks for changing password, OTP or CVV number written on the back of the card.

Cautioning the customers through its Twitter account, the SBI clarified that the bank never asks for information like user ID, PIN, password, CVV, OTP, VPA (UPI) from its customers, who must take care of these things while doing banking transactions.

Further, it also warned them that they should not commit such mistakes, as this may cause their bank account to be emptied.

In its dos and don'ts, the SBI advised its customers not to do online transactions with public devices, open networks and free Wi-Fi zones, as these places are prone to risk.
