It's now easier to make a PAN card for individuals. Now anyone can get a PAN card within minutes, just after applying. The Income Tax Department is all set to launch a new facility to deliver PAN cards to people. In this, the details of the applicant will be verified through Aadhaar and PAN details will be verified from the base itself. The Income Tax Department will launch this service in the next few weeks. The benefit of the new service will be extended to new applicants as well as to those who have lost their PAN cards and applied for a new one.
Free e-PAN card for everyone
According to the Income Tax Department, e-PAN number (ePAN) means the facility of electronic PAN number will be absolutely free for all the applicants. The details of the Aadhaar card will be verified to make ePAN and to verify the Aadhaar details, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the applicant. Details given in Aadhaar such as address, father's name and birth date will be accessed online and after this, the applicant will not be required to upload any kind of document to get his/her PAN card.
E-PAN will be generated first
After the PAN number is generated, the Income Tax Department will issue a digitally signed ePAN to the applicant. This digital pan will have a QR code and all other personal details in an encrypted format, in order to prevent the any kind of fraud.
The Income Tax Department has already issued more than 62,000 ePANs in the last eight days as a pilot project and now its all set toimplement the same in whole country.
