Need to apply for correction in PAN card? Do before PAN Aadhaar linking deadline - Follow this process

PAN Card Correction: The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended till March 31, 2021. The PAN holders must be acquainted with what to do in case there has been a mistake on the PAN card or if there is any change in the details on the PAN that have been provided at the time of obtaining the card. Those looking to make changes in their PAN cards can get various information related to PAN simply by logging in to the official website of Income Tax at incometaxindia.gov.in.

PAN stands for Permanent Account Number. PAN is a 10-digit unique alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department. PAN is issued in the form of a laminated plastic card (commonly known as PAN card).
A PAN card holder must know that the person can apply for the correction on the PAN card in both offline and online modes. For making PAN corrections in the offline mode, one has to submit the "Request For New PAN Card Or/ And Changes or Correction in PAN Data" form at the nearest PAN facilitation centre.
Now in case of making the corrections on the PAN card in the online mode, one has to request For New PAN Card Or/ And Changes or Correction in PAN Data:
1) Online through NSDL at onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html
2) Online through UTIITSL at myutiitsl.com/PAN_ONLINE/CSFPANApp
A PAN card holder can download the PDF from incometaxindia.gov.in/Documents/form-for-changes-in-pan.pdf.
It must be noted that in case of any change in the PAN database, that is, the details provided at the time of obtaining the PAN must be intimated to the Income-tax Department by furnishing the details in the form for “Request For New PAN Card Or/ And Changes or Correction in PAN Data”.
In any matter relating to PAN, one can contact the NSDL. The Income Tax Department or NSDL can be contacted via phone by dialing the numbers 1800-180-1961 and 020-27218080, respectively. These departments can also be contacted by means of e-mail at efilingwebmanager@incometax.gov.in and tininfo@nsdl.co.in, respectively.
For linking Aadhaar with PAN, one will have to visit the new official website of Income Tax India at incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. Now, an individual will have to follow these simple steps in order to link the Aadhaar with PAN:
Step 1: One has to register on the new website, and one must remember that the PAN will be user ID.
Step 2: Now, login by entering the User ID, password and date of birth
Step 3: A pop-up window will appear. If the window does not appear, go to ‘Profile Settings’ on the Menu bar and click on ‘Link Aadhaar’
Step 4: Details such as name date of birth and gender will already be mentioned as per the PAN details
Step 5: Verify the PAN details on the screen with the ones mentioned on the Aadhaar.
Step 6: If the details match, enter the Aadhaar number and click on the “link now” button
Step 7: A message will pop up informing that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked to PAN
For further details, a PAN holder can login to the official website of the Income Tax Department at incometaxindia.gov.in.
