DA is a part of the salary. It is calculated as a specific percentage of the basic salary which is then added to the basic salary.
The hike in DA will come as a major relief to government employees amid skyrocketing inflation.
Earlier this week, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh announced to hike DA for employees by 3 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively.
