Linked PAN card with Aadhaar card? Here is how to check status at incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

PAN Aadhaar Link: The income tax department gave a major relief to taxpayers by extending the deadline to link PAN card with Aadhaar card last month. The initial deadline was June 30, 2020 and chances are most of you might have completed the process already. This is required to access several services including filing income tax. 

Those who have already linked their PAN card with Aadhaar card, can check their status online through the official website. Here is a step by step guide to check PAN Aadhaar link status online:

Log in at the official website of the Income Tax Department or go directly at incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/aadhaarstatus.

Enter your PAN number.

Enter your Aadhaar card number.

Click at 'View Link Aadhaar Status' below.

PAN Aadhar link status will be displayed on your computer monitor.

How to check PAN card Aadhaar link status via SMS

One can check PAN Aadhaar link status by sending SMS as well. To check the status of PAN-Aadhaar linking through SMS, the user needs to send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format UIDPAN < 12 digit Aadhaar number> < 10 digit Permanent Account Number>. If the PAN Aadhaar link is successful, you will receive a message "Aadhaar...is already associated with PAN..in ITD database. Thank you for using our services."

So, you have both online and SMS options available to check your PAN Aadhaar link status. 

Earlier, the government had extended the last date for linking Aadhaar and the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card to March 31, 2021. The decision was taken in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

"Understanding and keeping in mind the times that we are in, we have extended deadlines. PAN-AADHAAR linking can be done till 31st March, 2021. We do hope this helps you plan things better," the income tax department wrote on Twitter.
