Watch- Kaun Banega Crorepati online fraud: Beware! You can lose money, don't do this
This is done by fraudsters by luring people into traps in the form of prize money. Take this case of Kavita. She and her family from Nalasopara, Mumbai have become a victim of these fraudsters. Kavita received a fraud call where the callers said they were from KBC.
Kaun Banega Crorepati is an iconic reality quiz show, where fantastic amounts are on offer for you, if you manage to get a chance to participate and thereafter to answer certain questions. However, the success of this show has also drawn the attention of fraudsters and they are out to loot the money in your bank account. So, beware! Yes, you can lose lakhs of rupees.
This is done by fraudsters by luring people into traps in the form of prize money. Take this case of Kavita. She and her family from Nalasopara, Mumbai have become a victim of these fraudsters. Kavita received a fraud call where the callers said they were from KBC. They said she was going to get Rs 25 lakh through KBC lottery! The family believed it and fell into the trap.
The family then started waiting for the day when the amount of Rs 25 lakh was going to come to their account. But the phone callers put a condition in front of Kavita's family. Before winning this prize money, they will have to put deposit certain amounts in some bank accounts. All this was happening so smoothly that Kavita's family felt everything was all right. In the hope of Rs 25 lakh, this family deposited Rs 3.65 lakh in the accounts mentioned.
But the day also came when Kavita and her family had to face the reality but it was too late by that time. All calls to Kavita were fake and there was no lottery in KBC. The family became a victim of fraud.
Modus Operandi
In order to win Kavita's trust, the fraudsters sent many videos through WhatsApp to make them trust that the lottery is being sent through the official KBC program.
The most surprising thing is that the numbers from which WhatsApp calls were being made to this family were from foreign countries like Pakistan and Kuwait. While the money was asked to be deposited in bank accounts of different states in the country.

Lottery or not, but this money was very important for Kavita's family. Kavita's husband is suffering from a brain tumor. He was in desperate need of money for his treatment.
Ominously, this is not the first cheating case in the name of KBC and other reality shows. Therefore, you should remain cautious and extremely careful before sharing details or depositing money. Also, file a complaint in the nearest police station as early as possible in case of such fake calls.
Anytime someone asks you to deposit money in an unknown bank account and that the prize money will be handed thereafter, is a fraudster. No institution, whether a bank or any company will ask you to deposit money in such a manner.
