Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Kanya Sumangala Yojana Benefits and Eligibility: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently announced that the grant under Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana will be increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000. This means the beneficiary will get Rs 25,000 from April, this year.
What is Kanya Sumangala Yojana?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the "Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao" campaign in 2014. When Yogi became the Chief Minister for the first time in 2017, he Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
Kanya Sumangala Yojana facilitates the education of a girl child right from birth till graduation. Earlier, the government used to provide Rs 15,000 to girl children annually. However, the grant has now been increased to Rs 25,000.
According to CM Yogi, his government has provided Rs 15,000 to more than 17 lakh daughters annually through this scheme so far.
Kanya Sumangala Yojana: Benefits
Under the scheme, a grant of Rs 25,000 will be given in 6 phases from next year. Rs 5,000 will be transferred to the beneficiary account after the birth of the girl. When the daughter turns one, Rs 2000 will be given and similarly, Rs 3,000 as soon as the daughter goes to first class.
Rs 3,000 will be transferred to the account when she gets admission to the sixth class. Rs 5,000 when she goes to the ninth class and if the daughter decides to graduate or any diploma or certificate courses, Rs 7,000 will be transferred to the account.
Two daughters of a family are eligible to get the grant under this scheme.
Kanya Sumangala Yojana: Who can avail benefits?
To avail the benefit of this scheme one must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh and must have a permanent residence certificate. Also, those having income not more than Rs 3 lakh is applicable for this scheme.
Kanya Sumangala Yojana: Documents required
A ration card, Aadhar card, Voter ID card, electricity or telephone bill will be valid as a residence certificate.
Kanya Sumangala Yojana: How to apply?
You can apply for the Kanya Sumangala Yojana online by following the below-given steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of the scheme i.e. mksy.up.gov.in/women_welfare/ or click directly on this link mksy.up.gov.in/women_welfare/citizen/guest_login.php and click on the 'Quick Links' section.
Step 2: Click on 'Apply Here' button under the 'Citizen Services Portal' tab.
Step 3: You will be redirected to a new page where you have to register yourself.
Step 4: Once you register, you will need to tick the 'I Agree' button and hit 'Continue'.
Step 5: Provide all the details following which you will need to click on the 'Send SMS OTP' along with the captcha provided.
Step 6: Enter the OTP to complete the registration.
Step 6: Now login with your username and password.
Step 7: An online registration form for the scheme will be available after login.
Step 8: Fill the registration form with all the required details and upload the relevant documents to complete your online application for the Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
