sbiINTOUCH Debit Card: A user on Quora has raised a query regarding sbiINTOUCH Debit Card. And, State Bank of India (SBI) has answered this from the verified SBI account on Quora. The question was "Is sbiINTOUCH Debit Card safe to use? If it leaves the hands of the owner won't it be easy to steal as it doesn't require anything for transactions?". Here is the full answer by SBI:-

SbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Debit Card is a multi-purpose International Debit Card which comes with contactless technology. This means that wherever a Customer sees the contactless symbol at any merchant location he/she can pay for items through Contactless debit Card.

Benefits –
(I) Customer will not have to part with the card which will be under his custody always
(II) Payment by this card will be faster
(III) A customer can pay for items up to Rs.2000/-without needing to enter his/her PIN.

Features –
(I) No PIN is required up to Rs.2000/- per contactless transaction.
(II) PIN is mandatory for all the transactions above the value of Rs.2000/- per transaction
(III) Maximum transaction limit is up to Rs. 2000/- for the contactless mode.
(IV)Maximum five such contactless transactions are permitted during a day.
(V) Maximum value of all contactless transactions in a day is up to Rs. 10,000/-

Risk Associated –
In case of lost or stolen contactless debit Card:-
(I) A fraudster may use the contactless card for a maximum value up to Rs.2000/- per transaction at a merchant location where the contactless payments are accepted before the loss is reported and the card is blocked.
(II) The fraudster may do a maximum of five contactless transactions for a maximum value not exceeding Rs. 10,000/- in a day.
(III) The number of fraudulent transactions in a day will be dependent on; how many contactless transactions have already been done on the card before losing the debit Card.

Customer’s liability –
In case of a lost or stolen contactless debit card, a customer may immediately contact the SBI Customer Care to report the loss of his/her Debit Card. The Bank will not be liable for any financial loss arising out of the unauthorized use of the card till such time the bank hotlists the card.
