Apart from Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo who finds himself in the third spot, the top five spots are occupied by women, followed by Beyonce Knowles and Taylor Swift at seventh and eighth spots respectively.

Among sportspersons, Virat Kohli and Lebron James are only non-footballers in the top 10 with eight spots occupied by football players. Ronaldo earns almost 50 per cent more than any other sports star, with Neymar sitting in second spot, cashing-in £580,000 per post. Even Lionel Messi can't get anywhere near Ronaldo as their long-running rivalry rages on. The Argentine star earns a cool £521,000 per post - nearly double that of fifth-placed David Beckham.

Golden Balls could pocket £287,000 each time he posts on Instagram - ahead of NBA superstar LeBron James (£219,000).
