How to block your State Bank of India ATM/Debit card online, offline: Step-by-step guide

State Bank of India is the largest public sector bank with over 42 crore customers. Many SBI customers also use internet banking. The SBI had issued over 27.83 lakh debit/ATM cards with a market share of 32.3% as of March 2018. With the growing cybercrime, it's possible that your ATM/Debit card may get misused. To avoid this, you may adhere to the safety tips issued by the bank from time to time. However, if you have lost your card or has it been misused, you must immediately get it blocked. An SBI customer can get his/her ATM/Debit card blocked either online or offline.
Here's how to get your ATM/Debit card blocked online:
For this, you will have to log-in using SBI net banking platform. Follow these steps to block your card:
Step 1: Login to www.onlinesbi.com with your username and password.
Step 2: Select "ATM Card Services>Block ATM Card" link under the "e-Services" tab.
Step 3: Select the Account, under which you want to block your ATM cum Debit Card.
Step 4: All active and blocked cards will be displayed. You will be shown the first 4 and last 4 digits of the card(s).
Step 5: Select the Card, you wish to block and click "Submit". Verify the details and confirm.
Step 6: Select the mode of authentication as either SMS OTP or Profile Password.
Step 7: On the next screen, enter the OTP password /Profile password as chosen earlier and Click "Confirm".
Step 8: A success message would be displayed with a Ticket No. after successful blocking of your ATM cum Debit Card. Note this Ticket No. for future reference.
Other ATM-related services that you can avail under 'ATM card services' option are - set/modify ATM card limits, generate ATM pin, activate new ATM card and place a request for new ATM/Debit card.
You can also get your card blocked using SBI Yono App. Log into your SBI Yono App >>> Tap on Services >>> Debit Card Hotlisting >>> Select Debit Account >>> Select Card number >>> Select reason from - Lost and Stolen option >>> Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and tap on Submit.
