HDFC Bank vishing warning: In a message that should set alarm bells ringing in every account holder's mind, HDFC Bank has said that account holders can even lose their money unless they are careful. It starts like this - "Hello, I am your 'bank representative'! I am here to inform you that...!" Yes, vishing is all about telephone calls where fraudsters look to steal other people's money. Now, HDFC Bank has issued a warning to its account holders saying online fraudsters are trying to trick its customers to give them sensitive information about their accounts. Sometimes they lure with offers other times they warn of problems they may face from the bank. HDFC Bank has clearly mentioned in its mails and messages that there is no such communication taking place from the bank and that these can be a trap by online fraudsters looking to steal money from account holders.

"If you receive any phone calls seeking your personal credentials like Customer ID, Password, OTP, Debit/Credit Card Number, PIN or CVV, never fall for it, since it could be a vishing phone call that can result into fraudulent activities leading to financial loss," warns HDFC Bank message that it has been sending through mails and SMS to its customers.

The best way to avoid such frauds is to avoid such calls. So, rather than doing what the fraud caller wants, one should log in through net banking and cross-check whether such offers exist or not.
