It's an important message for Bank of Baroda account holders as the BoB has launched WhatsApp banking services. The state-run Bank of Baroda is offering services such as balance enquiry, mini statement, cheque status enquiry, cheque book request, blocking debit card and information on products and services, among others via WhatsApp.

The banking services via the messaging platform is available 24x7, with no additional requirement of application download.

"With the growing prominence of social media, we believe that WhatsApp banking will offer immense convenience to our customers to meet their banking requirements," the bank's executive director AK Khurana said.

Even non-customers can also use this platform for queries related to the bank's products, services, offers, ATM and branch location.

Meanwhile, IDBI Bank has announced the launch of Video KYC Account Opening (VAO) facility for Savings Bank Accounts. Through VAO, a customer can open a savings account with IDBI Bank from the convenience of his/her house or office as there are no physical forms to be filled and no visits to be made to the  branch for opening  one’s Savings Bank account.

Suresh Khatanhar, Deputy Managing Director, IDBI Bank inaugurated a centralized Video-KYC hub at Mumbai.

According to IDBI Bank, VAO is a completely contactless and paperless mode of on-boarding the customer and tailor made for the demands of post pandemic world.

Commenting on the occasion of launch of Video KYC Account Opening (VAO) facility for IDBI Savings Bank Accounts, Suresh Khatanhar, Deputy Managing Director, IDBI Bank said, “VAO – Video KYC Account Opening is yet another step in creating more digital journeys benefiting the customers. This comes close on the heels of the “I Quick” mobile app based account opening and “WhatsApp Banking” facilities the Bank had launched recently. The Bank is endeavouring to make more such customer friendly digital conveniences available for customer delight."
