In the state of Bihar, a scheme is being run by the government, where the girls who have completed their graduation were entitled to Rs 25,000 through the Balika Snatak Protsahan Yojana. Under this scheme, the government gave Rs 25,000 to the graduate girls. However, during the recently held Bihar elections, Chief Minister Kumar announced that if his government is elected back to power, he will raise the amount from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000.  According to reports, the government has started working on Balika Snatak Protsahan Yojana. It is expected that the girls who complete their graduation will soon receive an amount of Rs 50,000.

The state’s education department has prepared a proposal to credit money into the accounts of the graduate girl under this yojana. The proposal will be sent to the state Finance Department for approval. Since, the proposal has been brought by the government only, it is expected to get a cabinet clearance soon. This Balika Snatak Protsahan Yojana will directly benefit 1.5 lakh girl students. The government received around 1.4 lakh applications in the previous year, out of which this amount was given to 84,344 students. Those students whose applications had some issues could not be processed. It is likely to be given now after rectifying those errors or shortcomings.

It is to be noted that, under the Balika Snatak Protsahan Yojana, only those graduate girls will be eligible for the grants who have passed out from a government recognised collage.
