There is good news for commuters of Mumbai local trains! Travelling in AC coaches may soon become cheaper. As per the information, the Railway Board has proposed to slash rates of single journey in AC local trains in Mumbai. It has been recommended that this rate should be in line with the rates of Mumbai metro trains.
If the proposal is accepted, the fares for single journey in AC coaches will be limited between Rs 10 to Rs 80. Currently, ticket fare of AC trains for single journey has been priced between Rs 65 to Rs 220. However, as per the proposal, the price of season tickets have been kept as same.

The idea behind this proposal is to attract more passengers in AC trains during peak and non-peak hours. Besides, this the move is also aimed at improving passengers' convenience.
Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation will soon also float tenders for 238 new AC trains, keeping these things in mind.
