Gold Price Today: The dollar index reached a new 20-year high of 109.44 on Monday. Due to the correction in the dollar index, there was a limited pressure seen on the price of gold and silver in the domestic market on Tuesday.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the Gold October futures were trading 0.41 per cent lower at Rs 51,038 per 10 grams. Silver December futures were trading lower at Rs 54,921 per kg. The metal was down by 0.58 per cent on Tuesday at 11:30 am.

In line with a positive trend in domestic equities, the rupee appreciated 7 paise to 79.84 against the US dollar in early trade on August 30.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 79.92 against the American dollar and touched 79.84 in initial deals, registering a gain of 7 paise over the last close.

On the domestic equity front, the 30-share Sensex was trading 485.2 points or 0.84 per cent higher at 58,457.82 points while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 154.10 points or 0.89 per cent to 17,467.00 points.
