Gold and Silver Rate Today: The precious yellow metal was trading in the green territory, up by 0.20 per cent to Rs 50270 per 10 grams. Silver too gained in today's session by around 0.50 per cent to sit comfortably above Rs 56500.
Gold and Silver Rate Today: After a long wait, the yellow metal on Friday breached the psychologically important level of Rs 50,000 on MCX. The precious metal was trading in the green territory, up by 0.20 per cent to Rs 50270 per 10 grams. Silver too gained in today's session by around 0.50 per cent to sit comfortably above Rs 56500.
Earlier this morning, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) raised the benchmark lending rate by 50 basis points to 5.90 per cent in a bid to check inflation, which has remained above its tolerance level for the past 8 months.
This is the fourth consecutive rate hike after a 40 basis points increase in May and 50 basis points hike each in June and August. In all, RBI has raised benchmark rate by 1.90 per cent since May this year.
In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 139.9 points or 0.25 per cent down at 56,270.06 and the broader NSE Nifty fell 32.80 points or 0.2 per cent to 16,785.30, as per PTI report.
