Fake Rs 100 notes found in circulation within two months of release! Check if yours is original

Just around two months since the release of Rs 100 currency note in the market, its fake version has started being circulated by frauds. A report by Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar today said that police have recovered 84,000 fake Rs 100 notes. The person from whom the notes have been discovered is not a fake currency peddler but a victim of fraud. As per the report, a property dealer identified as Sanjeev had sold his iPhone for Rs 90,000 to one youth named Javed Shamim. The buyer had paid 84,000 Rs 100 currency notes. The rest of the notes were of Rs 500 denomination. After buying the iPhone, Shamim had fled. 

Police said that Shamim is a resident of Ruxaul and travels across the Nepal border. His activities are suspect in Ruxaul and is allegedly connected with the gang of fake note publishers. Police also said that people like Shamim make business by changing their names. Hence, it is not certain whether Shamim is the true name of the criminal. 

Report said that Sanjiv and Shamim used to know each other. The latter used to visit Sanjiv's house. They had agreed on the sale of iPhone. On 24th December, Shamim learnt while talking on the phone with Sanjiv that the latter was not at home. Taking benefit of the opportunity, Shamim visited Sanjiv's house, gave the fake notes to the latter's wife and ran away with the iPhone. It was later found that all the notes were of same serial number and fake.

5. Micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘भारत’, ‘India’ and ‘100’

6. Windowed security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI with colour shift; Colour of the thread changes from green to blue when the note is tilted

7. Guarantee Clause, Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait

8. Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right

9. Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (100) watermarks

10. Number panel with numerals in ascending font on the top left side and bottom right side

11. For visually impaired intaglio or raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, raised triangular identification mark with micro-text 100, four angular bleed lines both on the right and left sides
