ESIC Covid 19 Relief Scheme – If you are covered under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) then you are entitled to these reliefs. This statutory body which works under the aegis of Ministry of Labour and Employment is extending the unemployment benefits being given under the Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyna Yojna for one more year up to 30 June 2021.
In the event of unfortunate death of the worker covered under the ESI Act 1948 due to Covid-19, 90 per cent of the average wages of the deceased worker will be distributed among the family members of the deceased worker every month and will be paid directly in their accounts.

Medical Benefits – The spouse of the deceased is also eligible for medical care on the nominal contribution of Rs 120 per year.
The scheme also covers Covid-19 deaths occurring within 30 days after recovery from Covid-19.
Eligibility:
The worker who dies due to Covid-19 must be registered with the ESIC online portal at least 3months prior to the date of diagnosis of Covid-19 disease, must be in employment on the date of diagnosis and at least 70 days contribution should have been paid or payable for him during a period of maximum one year immediately preceding the diagnosis of Covid-19.
How and Where to Apply?
The claim for relief with Covid-19 positive report and death certificate of the worker can be applied at the branch manager of any ESIC Branch Office. The claim will be settled in 15 days from the date of submission of settled claim.
Compensation on Loss of Wages due to Covid-19.
Sickness benefit under ESI Act 1948 at daily rate of 70 per cent of average daily wages may be availed by a worker covered under ESI Act 1948 to compensate the lost of wages for the period he or she remains absent from work because of Covid-19.
Maximum duration for sickness benefits is 91 days.
Claim will be settled in 7 days.
Payment of expenses to meet the last rites of the deceased person will also be done by ESIC
