EPFO: How to check EPF account balance, statement by SMS, Missed Call, epfindia.gov.in portal and Umang app

Know how to do it!
The retirement fund body has prescribed a number of ways for checking account balance and statement of account. It can be done in four easy ways:
- Checking balance via SMS – you can send an SMS at 7738299899 to get the information.
- Checking Balance Via Missed Call – Give a missed call to 01122901406 to get your account statement and balance details.
- Using EPFO Portal: epfindia.gov.in – You will be required to enter your Universal Account Number (UAN) and your password to check the EPF balance. Passbook will be available after 6 hours of registration at Unified Member Portal, the EPFO website says. Changes in the credentials at Unified Member Portal will be effective at this Portal after after 6 hours.
- Another easy way to check balance and account statement is by using EPFO App on the Umang Platform.
The official Twitter handle of Umang India APP has also recently tweeted with regards to the same.
“Accessing your @socialepfo account and using its various services got easier with #UMANGApp! Users can check their PF balance, Raise claim, Apply for UAN, Check claim status and other services using this app,” it said in a tweet.

Passbook will have the entries which has been reconciled at the EPFO field offices, the website further said.
EPFO is one of the World's largest Social Security Organisations in terms of clientele and the volume of financial transactions undertaken. At present it maintains 24.77 crore accounts (Annual Report 2019-20) pertaining to its members.
