EPFO Fraud News: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) members must note that they need to be careful of the fraudulent messages or else they may end up losing money. The EPFO has recently tweeted to make its members aware of the fraudulent activities.

The EPFO members must note that EPFO never asks for any personal details like Aadhaar, PAN, UAN, bank account, OTP over phone, social media, WhatsApp and other. Furthermore, EPFO never asks to deposit any money through WhatsApp or social media, for any any services.
The EPFO has advised its members never to respond to any such calls or messages asking for personal details as they are all fraudulent activities.
In other EPFO related news, EPFO has added around 14.65 lakh net subscribers in provisional payroll data during July 2021. The data highlights a growing trend in net payroll additions for last four months. For the month of July 2021, the net subscriber addition has increased by 31.28 per cent, compared to the previous month of June 2021, when the total additions were 11.16 lakh.
Of the total 14.65 lakh net subscribers, around 9.02 lakh new members have come under the social security umbrella of EPFO for the first time. Around 5.63 lakh net subscribers exited but rejoined EPFO by changing jobs within the establishments covered by EPFO. This shows that majority of subscribers opted to continue their membership with EPFO, by transferring their past accumulations from previous job to the current PF account rather than applying for final withdrawal.
The EPFO members must also note that there are certain EPFO services that are available on DigiLocker. DigiLocker is a secure cloud-based platform for storage, sharing and verification of documents and certificates. The app is available for download on the Android and iOS devices.
The EPFO services available on DigiLocker are:
1) UAN card
2) Pension Payment Order (PPO)
3) Scheme Certificate
The EPFO members should know that in order to avail the above-mentioned services on DigiLocker, one has to register with DigiLocker in the first place. Then one has to verify oneself and after that one has to fetch the documents on DigiLocker.
