EPFO DigiLocker: This amazing hassle free service will help you download your UAN, PPO

EPFO Digilocker: Employees' Provident Fund Organisation's (EPFO) DigiLocker provides amazing services. It has  recently introduced the same for salaried employees and pension holders. Under this new service, the salaried class can now download their Universal Account Number documents while the pensioners can download their Pension Payment Order (PPO) any time from their digital lockers.

What is DigiLocker and how is it useful?

DigiLocker is the National Digital Locker System launched by Government of India and is aimed at ensuring paperless governance. It can be accessed at https://digilocker[dot]gov[dot]in and https://digitallocker[dot]gov[dot]in. It offers the following benefits:

-- Citizens can access their digital documents anytime, anywhere and share it online. This is convenient and time-saving.

-- It reduces the administrative overhead of Government departments by minimizing the use of paper.

-- Digital Locker makes it easier to validate the authenticity of documents as they are issued directly by the registered issuers.

The Universal Account Number document is very important for a salaried class person. This is required to get details about the money being deposited into your EPF account. It is also required to withdraw money from your EPF account. Every PF account holder is given a unique UAN number so that the account holder can get any information about his EPF at any time and anywhere. The UAN is essential to apply for online PF withdrawal, online PF transfer, Know Your Customer (KYC) update UAN card and passbook.

In the same way, a person who has completed her service term and is now on pension will require the PPO documents. Any person who has completed his service term will fall under the category of pension class.  A PPO is a 12 digit number that is required at the time of submitting your Life Certificate.
