Users must keep their Universal Account Number (UAN) handy to access their EPF passbook or balance. The UMANG app is available to download for both Android and iOS users. 

EPFO: Here's how to check the EPF passbook online through the UMANG app:

1. Download the UMANG application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Open the app and select your preferred language. 

2. Register your profile with your EPF-registered phone number. Choose EPFO from the list that appears on the screen. 

3. Click on 'View Passbook' and enter your UAN. 

4. You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and follow the given steps to check your EPF balance. 

Apart from the UMANG app, users can also check their EPF balance through missed calls and SMS service.

If one has forgotten his/her UAN, he/she can visit unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in to check the number.

  • Click on the ‘Know your UAN’ option on the main page.
  • Enter the details required like your EPF account number and member ID.
  • An authorisation PIN will be received.
  • Enter the PIN.
  • The UAN will be sent on your registered mobile number.
  • If your UAN has not been activated, you can click on ‘Activate Your UAN’ and follow the steps mentioned by the EPFO.
