Labour Shramik Card registration news: The Centre rolled out a national database for unorganised workers for the overall welfare of crores of these workers of the country. Now, these workers are queuing up to register on the e-shram portal eshram.gov.in.

Key objectives of e-shram portal  

e-Shram Card is valid across the country 

Transfer of assistance amount directly in the bank accounts of the workers through DBT, in a disaster situation. 

Implementation of social security schemes for the unorganised workers. 

Helping workers to develop their skills and find employment opportunities.  

No need to register from time-to-time after registering once. 

However, the government has informed that over 500 CSCs were blocked for not following the guidelines while e-shram registration.  

The Common Services Centre (CSCs) has tweeted, “More than 500 CSCs were blocked for not following the guidelines while doing e-shram registration.”

Currently, the government has informed that there is no need to provide any proof of date of birth and income details. The registration under the e-SHRAM portal is totally free and workers do not have to pay anything for his or her registration at Common Service Centres (CSCs), or Regional Offices of State Government.  They can also directly register through the e-SHRAM portal eshram.gov.in.

The bank details are being captured to ensure hassle-free delivery of benefits under social security schemes or any benefits by the Central/State government directly to the worker’s account. There will be no deduction from the worker’s bank account after registration.

Only agriculture labours and landless farmers are eligible for registration in the e-SHRAM portal. Other farmers are not eligible. The Ministry of Labour tweeted that over 2 crore unorganised workers have registered on the e-shram portal. Last week, the Ministry also released data showcasing the top 10 states that have taken a lead in the registration. In this, Bihar tops the chart with 26,16,873 registrations and Maharashtra with 3,43,511 registrations.    

The Modi government has developed an e-SHRAM portal, which will be seeded with their Aadhaar cards.
