e-SHRAM Portal Registration: It is the first-ever national database of unorganised workers including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers and others.
e-SHRAM Portal Registration: The Narendra Modi government developed e-SHRAM portal for creating a national database of unorganised workers, which will be seeded with their Aadhaar cards. It will have details of name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types and family details etc. for the optimum realisation of their employability and extend the benefits of the social security schemes to them. It is the first-ever national database of unorganised workers including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers and others.
More than 16 crore unorganised workers (UW) in the country have already registered under the portal. The registration under the e-SHRAM portal is totally free and workers do not have to pay anything for his or her registration at Common Service Centres (CSCs), or Regional Offices of State Government. They can also directly register through the e-SHRAM portal eshram.gov.in.
Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav on 26th August launched e-Shram portal and handed it over to the States/UTs in the presence of Rameswar Teli, Minister of State for Labour & Employment and Petroleum & Natural Gas.
This system is being made to register 38 crore unorganised workers. "It will not only register them but would also be helpful in delivering of various social security schemes being implemented by the Central and State Governments,” said the labour minister said.
Step-by Step Registration Process
Step 1: To register the e-SHRAM portal, login to the official website at eshram.gov.in.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register on e-SHRAM' link on the home page.
Step 3: Enter the Aadhaar-linked mobile number and captcha code and click on send OTP.
Step 4: Follow the subsequent instructions to complete the registration process.
Please note that if a worker does not have Aadhaar-linked mobile number, then he/ she can visit the nearest CSC and register through Biometric authentication.
The workers should have Aadhaar Number, Aadhaar-linked mobile number and bank account number to register for the e-SHRAM portal.
e-Shram Card Benefits
The central government has developed e-SHRAM portal which will be a centralised database of unorganised workers seeded with Aadhaar. After registering, the worker is entitled to get an Accidental Insurance cover of 2 Lakh under PMSBY. In future, all the social security benefits of unorganised workers will be delivered through this portal. In emergency and national pandemic like situations, this database may be utilised to provide necessary assistance to the eligible unorganised workers.
