DA Hike: Following in footsteps of Centre, UP government plans to increase DA to 46%
Under the proposal, DA of 12 lakh teachers/employees and 7 lakh pensioners of the UP government will increase by 4 per cent each. The UP government can approve the proposal before Diwali.
DA Hike: After the central government confirmed a 4 per cent dearness allowance (DA) hike last week, Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is all set to take a similar decision. The UP government can reportedly announce a 4 per cent hike in DA for its employees and pensioners. The finance department of the UP government is comtemplating increasing DA at present.
Under the proposal, DA of 12 lakh teachers/employees and 7 lakh pensioners of the UP government will increase by 4 per cent each.
Once the state cabinet approves the proposal, the increased DA will be applicable from July 1, which means, employees and pensioners of the UP government will also get the arrears of the previous period.
The Yogi government on May 15 also approved an increase in DA.
At that time, CM Yogi had approved the proposal for an increase in DA with effect from January 2023.
When the Yogi-led government gave its go-ahead to the proposal in May, the state government employees started getting a DA of 42 per cent.
Now once again, preparations are being made to give DA benefits to the state employees at par with the central government employees.
On October 18, the central government announced a four per cent increase in DA.
After the approval, the central government employees will get an increased 46 per cent DA with effect from July this year.
It will be now to see if the UP government gives the gift of DA to its employees before Diwali or will give it after the festival of light.
