Even as the Coronavirus cases have been on the up in this third wave with India reporting over 2 lakh new cases daiily, the cashless health insurance claims are just around 25 per cent. However, largest private insurer ICICI Lombard's Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bhargava Dasgupta said that though the cashless claims have been less in numbers, in many cases the amount of treatment being done is more than the extant guidelines.

On Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal's insurance claims even without hospitalisation, Gupta said that if a treatment is beeing done under the observation of registered doctor and hospital at home, the company can settle the entire claims.
-- This time the number of health insurance claims filed are one-fourth or only 25 per cent of the claims filed during the peak of second wave.
-- While the number of claims filed this time are less, in many cases the amount of treatment done exceeds the limit prescribed in the guidelines.
