Pensioner Alert: If you are a pensioner with the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in the ESIC PMS, 2006 (ESIC Pensioners Medical Scheme 2006) you should know the monthly contributions that you need to make to avail ESIC facilities. After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations, the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare had revised the rates of subscription for central government pensioners. ESIC PMS 2006 is based on the CGHS rules. See the rate of rate of subscription and entitlements in the Scheme.

Levels in Pay Matrix (7th CPC) Contribution in Rs/month
- Level 1-5 Rs 250
- Level 6 Rs 450
- Level 7-11 Rs 650
- Level 12 Rs 1000
ESIC is a body which runs a self-financing social security and health insurance scheme for workers.
Entitlement of wards in private hospital empanelled under ESIC:
Basic Pay as per 7th CPC per month Ward Entitlement
- Up to Rs 47,000 General
- From Rs 47,601 to Rs 63,100 Semi Private
- Rs 63,101 and above Private
Pay slab for determining the entitlement accommodation in AIIMS, New Delhi
- Up to Rs 63,100 – General Ward
- From Rs 63,101 to Rs 80,900 – Private
- Rs 80,901 and above – Deluxe/Private
Pensioner have the option to get their ESIC medical made on annual basis. The pensioners are given a pensioner card with lifetime validity if the pensioner makes contributions for 10 years. Presently approximately 35 lakh beneficiaries are covered by CGHS in 71 cities all over India and the endeavour is to include more cities to improve the accessibility of the services, CGHS website says.
