The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has offered a social security scheme 'Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana' that will give lifetime coverage to the unorganised people of the society. To provide social security to the family of the people working in unorganised sector, the LIC has launched this Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana, which is available for such people for buying. This Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana of the LIC has been launched by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Under this LIC plan, lifetime coverage is given to those landless rural farmers who are head of their family. |The policy can be bought by the partial handicapped or single earning member of the family as well.

Eligibility for LIC Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana

The applicant for the LIC Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana should be in the age group of 18 years to 59 years. The applicant should be the head of his family or single earning member of his family or should be below the poverty line or landless rural Indian citizen. Those who are above BPL (Below Poverty Line) but living in urban India without enrolment into the voter list there, can also apply for the LIC Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana.

Benefits of LIC Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana

Under this LIC plan, if a person dies under normal circumstances during the tenure of the policy, then his nominee will be given Rs 30,000. However, in the case of accidental death, the policy holder's nominee will get a claim amount of Rs 75,000 from the LIC. In the case of partial handicappedness due to an accident of the policyholder, the claim amount of Rs 37,500 will be given to the policyholder. This LIC policy has a scholarship provision of the policy holder's two children as well. Under this LIC scheme, two children of the policyholder who reads in class 9ith to class 12th will be given Rs 100 scholarship half-yearly to continue their studies.

LIC Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana premium policy

For this Rs 30,000 LIfe Insurance cover for normal death, the LIC premium is Rs 200 where 50 per cent is paid by the policyholder while the rest 50 per cent has to be paid by the state or the UT he or she belongs. Hence, for the policyholder, the annual LIC premium for the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana policy is Rs 100 only.
