Bank Holidays: The bank customers must note that banks will remain closed in certain cities today and tomorrow on the account of Muharram and Onam. The customers will not be able to avail the banking facilities on these days.

The Reserve Bank of India has categorised the bank holidays in three sections. They are Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. This week the banking services will be affected due to festivals or religious celebrations and state wise leaves.
Muharram (Ashoora)
On August 19, 2021, on the account of Muharram (Ashoora), the banks will remain closed in Agartala, Belapur, Jammu, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur and Srinagar.
Muharram/First Onam
On August 20, 2021, banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, New Delhi, Ranchi and Thiruvananthapuram.
Apart from August 19 and 20, the banks will also remain closed on August 21, 2021 on the account of Thiruvonam. On August 21, 2021, on the occasion of Thiruvonam, the banks will remain closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
Apart from the above-mentioned days, the banks will remain closed on Sunday, August 22, 2021.
The bank customers must also note that this month, banks will also remain closed on August 23, 30 and 31 on the occasions of Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi, Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8)/Krishna Jayanthi and Sri Krishna Ashtami, respectively.
On August 23, 2021, banks will remain closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
On August 30, 2021, banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla and Srinagar.
On August 31, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Hyderabad.
The banks will remain closed on August 28, 2021 on the account of fourth Saturday and on Sunday, August 29, 2021.
The bank customers must note that on these days they will not be able to avail the usual banking services. For instance, the customers will not be able to withdraw and deposit money at the bank branches due to the holidays. However, the ATM facilities, the mobile banking services and online banking services will be available during these days.
