Bank Holidays in October 2021: The banks will remain closed across several cities in the month of October.  The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues a list of holidays for the banks in different cities. On these days, the bank customers will not be able to withdraw and deposit money at their respective bank branches.

It has to be noted that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), grants holidays to the banks under three categories. They are Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

The bank customers must note that the banks will remain closed on October 1, 2021, in Gangtok due to Half Yearly Closing of Bank Accounts.

On October 2, 2021, the banks will remain closed across all the cities in the country due to Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.

On October 6, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Bengaluru, Agartala and Kolkata on the occasion of Mahalaya Amavasye .

On October 7, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Imphal on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba of Lainingthou Sanamahi.

On October 12, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Agartala and Kolkata on the occasion of Durga Puja (Maha Saptami).

On October 13, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata on the occasion of Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami).

On October 14, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong and Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Navami)/Ayutha Pooja.

On October 15, 2021, the banks will remain closed in all the cities except Imphal and Shimla on the occasion of Durga Puja/Dasara/Dusshera (Vijaya Dashmi).

On October 16, 2021, banks will remain closed in Gangtok on the occasion of Durga Puja (Dasain).

On October 18, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Guwahati on the occasion of Kati Bihu.

On October 19, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of Id-E-Milad/Eid-e-Miladunnabi/Milad-i-Sherif (Prophet Mohammad's Birthday)/Baravafat.

On October 20, the banks will remain closed in Agartala, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Shimla on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday/Lakshmi Puja/Id-E-Milad.

On October 22, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Jammu and Srinagar on the occasion of Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi.

On October 26, 2021, the banks will remain closed in Jammu and Srinagar on the occasion of Accession Day.

Apart from the above-mentioned holidays, the banks will remain closed on October 9 and 23 due to second and fourth Saturdays. The banks will also remain closed on October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 due to Sundays.

It can be noted that online banking services will continue to operate on holidays as well. Bank customers will not be able to withdraw and deposit money at the bank branches due to the holidays. However, ATMs, mobile banking will also be available during these days.
