Recently, poll-bound states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have announced pay hikes for their employees. Even Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has announced some good news on 7th pay commission. However, it appears that the fortunes of the teachers of states like Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir are not bright like others.

A section of Bihar government teachers was planning to go on strike demanding pay hike as per 7th pay commission. However, the state deputy CM has so far managed to placate them by forming a committee to look into their demands. The teachers are yet to get the pay hike, but they have chosen the path of watching and waiting rather than protesting or going on strike.

On the other hand, teachers of Jammu and Kashmir are on a continuous protest demanding benefits of the 7th pay commission. They are getting the salaries as per the 6th pay commission. Now, 250 teachers from the state are in Delhi to bring the Centre's attention on their demands.

The teachers are agitating under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC). If approved, around 41,000 teachers in the state will be getting the benefits of the 7th pay commission.

On the other hand, Delhi government teachers are fuming over the implementations of the new pay hike rule. The new rule under the guidelines of the 7th Pay Commission makes it mandatory for teachers to have 'very good' remarks on their performance card to get the pay hike. Earlier, they used to get pay hike and promotion based on a 'good' remark on their performance card.
