Central government, however, disappointed its employees when it took decision not to increase DA from January 2020 till June 2021, citing coronavirus challenges. Central government employees who were supposed to get increased DA of 21% from January 2020 itself are being now paid DA at the old rate of 17%.

Later, the government extended LTA of central government employees for undertaking tour to Northeast, Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Island and Jammu and Kashmir by two years. Besides, it also removed the condition of attaching boarding pass along with LTA in June. However, now, government employees have to give self-declaration.

After taking decisions on DA and LTA, the government presented LTC voucher scheme for its employees since they are unable to avail leave.
