Two months after the Union Cabinet approved 7th Pay Commission recommendations, Odisha government has announced the implementation of the revised salary for state government employees.

Earlier this week, Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha, had announced that the revised salary as per the 7th Pay Commission will be given to the government employees from the of September. 

This will benefit nearly 4.5 lakh employees and 3.5 pensioners in Odisha state. However, the hike in salary will put an additional burden of Rs 4,500 crore per annum on the government. 

Patnaik said, "My government has decided to implement the recommendations of the committee constituted for examination of the Seventh Pay Commission and its adoption for state government employees," as quoted by India Today in a report.
