The Central government has increased the DA from July 2021 by 11 per cent. Since then, the dearness allowance has increased twice. The overall DA now stands at 34 per cent. However, we have not heard anything related to the freeze in DA from the past 18 months. The government has clarified that the DA was frozen at the time of Covid-19 period. Hence there is no option of arrear.
Secretary (Staff Side) of National Council of JCM Shiv Gopal Mishra has been consistently saying that it was government’s decision to freeze the dearness allowance.
He said that the loss that has incurred because of the freeze must be compensated by the government. He said that the stalks are ongoing on the issue of DA arrear for the 18 month period with the government. The government must do a negotiated settlement.
